Round 1 Rundown – Chuckwalla

It’s hard to believe that after almost 4 months, the first round of the 2019 season is less than a week away and we’re excited to be back after the break! Over the last few months, the Roadster Cup Facebook group has been buzzing with chatter of new builds from returning drivers and excitement from new competitors. Despite needing the time for #roadstercupprep, we know you’re as ready as we are to hit the track again.

This year we’re kicking things off in the middle of the desert near the Arizona border at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway. And when I say middle of the desert, I literally mean middle of the desert. For those of you who have never been to Chuckwalla, be prepared! Other than the gas pumps at the track, the closest gas station is about a 30 minute drive. They have a small snack bar, but it would be a good idea to bring extra food, water, and snacks.

Registration – Arrive between 7:00-7:10

Please arrive early for registration. We will have Roadster Cup tech forms available, but I recommend printing one (download and print here) ahead of time and bringing it with you. You will have a grand total of 3 formsEvery participant MUST have a Roadster Cup tech form turned into timing. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.

Timing is $9 and should have been purchased during your online registration. Timing will only have one line for all drivers (so it could be a long wait!). I recommend heading straight to the timing line after registration. You will turn in your Roadster Cup Tech form to Timing. Before going to timing, make sure you have your tech form filled out with the appropriate class so the timing guy can input your information. You must trade an ID or Credit Card as collateral to receive timing. Even if you rent a helmet and leave your ID for that, you still have to leave a second form of ID or a Credit Card with timing. Your ID will be returned to you once you’ve returned your transponder. If two people are sharing a car, each driver must have their own transponder and run only one transponder on the car at a time in correspondence with the driver. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.

Drivers’ Meeting

Roadster Cup and Vtec Club will have a combined drivers’ meeting. We plan on going hot at 9:00am, so plan for a drivers meeting at 8:00am (advanced only) and 8:15 (all other groups).

Roadster Cup Private Group

We will have one private gridded run group and the rest of the groups will be mixed between RC/Vtec Club drivers and gridded (with the exception of the Beginner group). We will try to grid the first Roadster Cup only session based on previous lap times.

We will try to make as many announcements as possible to make sure that you do not miss the call to grid. Any additional time used to grid will cut into your driving time.  BE ON TIME TO GRID! Failure to be on time to grid may result in losing your grid spot, and you will be sent out at the back of the group.

Additional Information

  • Each driver has until their 4th session to set their fastest time.
  • We will have our season stickers available
  • Shirts and keychains will be available for purchase
  • We will be raffling swag from our sponsors during the awards ceremony

We’re really excited to get back out on track after the break and are looking forward to seeing you all there!
