Round 5 of the Roadster Cup was packed full of action at the beautiful Auto Club Speedway this past weekend! We had our good friends at Vtec Club there with us along with Muscle Car Cup, PLUS it was the annual Mazfest! This means there were show cars, vendors, and track cars! We were lucky enough to have our awesome sponsors Goodwin Racing, Circuit Sports, and StopTech there. Brad from StopTech was kind enough to do a presentation during lunch about brakes.
Despite all of the action off the track, there was even more on the track! With so many competitions running simultaneously in one track day, we had to share the track with the Muscle Cup Cars along with track day attendees. Despite traffic, the weather was great and we still had some fast times! Let’s jump into the results.
The race for the Enthusiast Class victory was VERY tight. The entire podium was separated by one tenth of a second! Zach Goldberg pulled off 3rd place in his ND with a 1:17.291.
Zee and Zach couldn’t manage to catch Brandon Morris in his Super Dry NB. He rana 1:17.141 to take the win in Enthusiast Class
Zee retains 1st with 108 points. Brandon stays in second with 88 points and Zach pulled ahead of Andrew Russ by two points this round with a total of 68 points.
Roadster Cup first-timer, Brian Burch pulled off a podium spot securing 3rd place with a 1:19.947.
Erik Brenner managed 2nd place with a 1:17.545.
John Arden stole 1st place from Erik by a little over two-tenths of a second. Running a 1:17.289, John was on top of Street Class!
Chris Willard retains 1st place with 93 points, Erik Brenner is in 2nd place with 81 points and this victory allowed John Arden to pull ahead of Sunny for 3rd place.
Chase Laurence managed 3rd place with a 1:22.152. It’s only Chase’s second time competing in the Roadster Cup and he pulled off his first podium this round!
Sean Hopkins, co-owner of Tri-Point Engineering, pulled off 2nd place with a 1:16.960.
Jerry (Awesome) Arnone pulled off a blistering 1:13.704 for 1st place.
No changes for the top three in Mod this round, but Sean Hopkins is closing in on Daryk Arden to steal 3rd place overall.
Jeff Klavir placed 3rd in Unlimited with a 1:16.202.
Stanley Kowalski doesn’t compete in the Roadster Cup often, but each time he does, he manages to end up on the podium. Stanley placed 2nd with a 1:15.657. Unfortunately we do not have a photo of Stanley.
Daryk Arden decided to come play in Unlimited class and pulled off a victory with a 1:14.239.
Jeff Klavir remains 1st this round with 88 points. James Dyer managed to pull into 2nd with 39 points and Tommy Huang from Circuit Sports is now in 3rd place with 28 points.
