Last Saturday was the 2017 season opener at Streets of Willow. With a field of 36 competitors it’s safe to say that there was some solid competition on the track. Aside from the competition on the track, over it was a pretty mellow track day with a few new faces and plenty Roadster Cup veterans. Lets dive bomb into the results!
Brandon Morris is starting to get comfortable on the podium. Laying down a 1:32.499 in his Superdry NB he was able to pull 3rd place.
You may remember last year’s Mod champion Jorge Castillo. He decided to buy an NC and take a stab at Enthusiast class. We could almost say “and Jorge wins again….” but not today. He still pulled off 2nd place with an impressive 1:30.861, just short of the victory.
1st place went to the nicest man on the planet, Mr. Chocolate Thunder himself. Stealing the victory from Jorge, Zee placed 1st in Nadine the ND with a 1:30.806.
Driving for Tripoint Engineering, Erik Brenner took 3rd in Street class with a 1:30.223.
Pulling up in 2nd for the day, Sonny Watanasirisuk scored a spot on the podium with a 1:28.876.
Taking 1st in Street class for Round 1 was THE Chris Willard with a 1:27.039. Lookin’ quick!
Hanno showed up late and tired and dehydrated (allegedly hungover)….and still podiumed! Rolling into a solid 3rd place with a 1:28.382.
Jerry was sad to hear that Jorge was not running Mod this season and decided to put in a quick 2nd place with a time of 1:27.416.
Emilio Cervantes had a good day out posting a quicker time in each session. He placed 1st with 1:25.750.
A ninja, a warrior, a pirate? Wait…Tarzan, that’s it. Ben Melick placed 3rd in unlimited with a 1:34.730.
Tommy Huang driving on behalf of our friends at Circuit Sports posted a 1:31.157 for 2nd in Unlimited.
A big congrats to Jeff Klavir on his first win with the Roadster Cup! With a 1:28.185, he sealed 1st in his class. His taste of victory left him wanting more, so we hope to be seeing him at more events this year!
