Last Sunday was the seventh round of the Roadster Cup at Auto Club Speedway (Infield configuration). Going into this, competitors knew it would be an interesting round since ACS is a track the Roadster Cup doesn’t visit very often. It was many competitors first or second time there, and some competitors were veterans. Since ACS is a power track, that was another factor to consider. The stakes are high as we are approaching the final rounds of the season, and it’s clear the drivers were aware of that. Nobody really knew what to expect! Let’s dive into the results.
Despite joining halfway through the season, Kyle Koh is showing us that he is a force to be reckoned with and is getting comfortable on the podium. Don’t let his age (17) fool you, he’ll show the old dogs new tricks! Stealing the 3rd place spot on the podium, Kyle ran a 1:21.896
Dane isn’t a new face to the Roadster Cup or the Enthusiast Class Podium. Dane, the E Class overall leader, took 2nd place with a 1:20.888.
John Arden achieved his first Roadster Cup victory, with a 1:20.262. This win helped John bridge the gap in points from 2nd place overall. David and John are now only separated by 11 points.
Apparently speed runs in the Arden family. Only a few hundredths off of 2nd place, Daryk Arden (John’s son) pulled off 3rd with a 1:19.937.
Despite skies being clear on Sunday, there was the faint sound of thunder….Chocolate Thunder that is. We had Zee “Chocolate Thunder” Reid steal 2nd from Daryk with a 1:19.867.
Piloting his unintentionally patriotic NA, Jerry pulled off the win with a 1:19.325. This widened his lead in the overall points from second place, Jorge Castillo.
In mod class we had Aaron Lyons take 3rd place in his fierce NA with a time of 1:15.232.
Joe Robles landed 2nd in his NA with a 1:14.958. Get a glimpse of the man himself below with our beautiful model, Jon B of Garage Star.
Will Watanawongkiri’s victory was thanks to his time of 1:13.694 in the Indotech NB. This also pushed him into first place overall in Mod.
